Alongshore Removals works the Inner West and the City of Canada Bay from our Balmain base. Every suburb below has its own page with the access detail that actually matters there — the housing stock, the parking rules, and how far the truck has to come.
Every suburb, and the drive from our depot
We charge by the hour, so the drive from our base is time you could end up paying for. Rather than claim to be “local” everywhere, here is the actual road distance from Balmain to each suburb we cover.
Inner West Council
20 suburbs · 19 inside the free-travel zone
No short-term removalist permit here — the council’s works zone process is built for construction and can take up to eight weeks. We plan around the kerb space instead.
City of Canada Bay
14 suburbs · 8 inside the free-travel zone
The council publishes resident, visitor, business and parks permits, but no dedicated removalist permit. Worth checking your street’s restrictions early.
Burwood Council
3 suburbs · 3 inside the free-travel zone
No parking permits for trucks over 4.5 tonnes, and works zones need six to eight weeks. We size the truck to the access.
City of Sydney
2 suburbs · 2 inside the free-travel zone
The easiest council in our patch: a removalist’s truck can use a visitor permit. $30 for ten, posted within about five working days.
Canterbury-Bankstown
2 suburbs · 1 inside the free-travel zone
If the truck needs a restricted zone, the council asks you to call about a week ahead for a temporary exemption.

House & apartment moves
Freestanding homes, terraces, townhouses and apartments. Furniture dismantled and reassembled, floors and lift lobbies protected.
Small office moves
Desks, filing, screens and workplace equipment, packed so the new space works the same day. Out-of-hours where it helps.
Packing & materials
Full or partial packing, plus boxes and materials delivered ahead. Full refund on anything you do not use.
Storage between moves
Settlement slipped or the lease ended early? One team collects, stores and delivers — no paying two crews.
