Tips for a smooth move

Tips For a Smooth Move:

Are you currently preparing for your next big move? It can be a very confusing process and if not planned correctly, moving can become quite stressful. Below we’ve curated a list of out-of-the-box tips to help make your moving process smoother.

Pack the Kitchen Last

Sometimes we can all get a bit packing crazy, but we recommend holding off packing up the kitchen until at least a week before the move. This is because, chances are you’re going to need to use your utensils, dinnerware and glasses before you move out.

Pack an “Open Me First” Box

One of our best tips is packing a moving box with all the things you can’t live without on your first night in your new home. Usually this will consist of necessities like toilet paper, a toothbrush, chargers, bedsheets and blankets. Really anything that you might be tempted to tear through boxes to find in a crisis.

Hire a babysitter

If you’re moving with children, we highly recommend enlisting childcare during the moving day. This will help the day run a lot smoother and ensure the safety of your little ones.

Stay hydrated!
Moving is exhausting! To avoid dehydration on such a taxing day, be sure to pack plenty of water bottles on moving day and have them somewhere accessible at all times.

Organise Each Box By Room

Try to avoid mixing items from room to room. When packing and unpacking it’s always more efficient to box things up by room, instead of randomly throwing items together. Don’t forget to clearly label each box!

Fun fact: The team at Alongshore Removals, as a rule of thumb, can pack a three-bedroom house in 4 hours. Avoid living in a house full of boxes weeks in advance and hire us to pack you up the day before you move.

Plan the space

Nothing is worse than arriving to your new house and not knowing where to put all the furniture. To save time, plot where you are going to put everything in your new home. We highly recommend taking measurements, also consider doorways and entry points to help take note on whether furniture will need to be disassembled. At Alongshore Removals, we can disassemble and reassemble your furniture for you.

Rent a self-storage unit
When moving or downsizing, sometimes your belongings are placed in limbo. We suggest renting a self-storage unit to help protect items you might not want to part with just yet. Alongshore Removals has fantastic relationships with local storage spaces and we can get you deals not available to the public. Call us if you are moving into storage to find out how we can help.

We hope these tips and tricks help make your moving day a little smoother! If you’re on the hunt for a professional removalist company to ensure the safe packing, transportation and delivery of your precious household items, consider giving Alongshore Removals a call: 0416 236 209
